Nursing Supervisor - Ballantyne ASC
General Job Summary:
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of nursing care delivery in the ASC. The Nursing Supervisor is also for responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.(This position will support the Gastroenterology team at our Ballantyne ASC, Monday to Friday 6:30 am to 3:30 pm)
Primary Job Responsibilities/Tasks may include, but not limited to:
- Supports the Administrator in utilizing systematic approaches to enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, nursing service administration and delivery of care in the department.
- Engages teammates and provides leadership in the professional practice setting and nursing profession to serve as an effective change agent, maintain a healthy work environment and promote innovation in care delivery.
- Coaches and counsels’ teammates and after consultation with the Administrator, administers discipline up to and including written warnings.
- Provides peer coaching and may assist the Administrator preparing and delivering performance appraisals.
- Assists the Administrator with interview, selection, and supervision of nursing personnel in the department.
- Assists the Administrator as needed with coordination of communication at regular intervals via staff meetings/huddles to exchange information/promote dialogue with teammates.
- Collaborates with Administrator to ensure understanding and compliance with federal and state laws, to include healthcare services and practice, while complying with all required regulations and policies.
- Maintains knowledge of: AAAHC Standards, Environmental Safety Regulations and guidelines, and Environment of Care. Compliance with OSHA guidelines and Infection Control.
- Rounds on patients, teammates, and physicians frequently to gain insight into patient care, employee, and physician satisfaction and appropriateness of patient care and/or department operations.
- Delegate’s elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with applicable legal or policy parameters or principles.
- Performs direct patient care daily, assists with procedures, and administers medication, as necessary.
- Coordinates management of patient flow and staffing through continuous assessment of volume/acuity needs utilizing resources available to assist in provision of appropriate staffing resources.
- Assists the Administrator in planning and delivery of nursing care and other services by considering factors such as safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice.
- Creates collegial relationships with interdisciplinary partners promoting continuity of care and integrated services across the continuum of care.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Interprets and analyzes data.
- Implements action plans to improve patient outcome and provide a cost-effective environment for patient care.
- Promotes evidence-based practice.
- Clerical handling of department reports and forms.
- Ensures adequate amounts of supplies to support daily operations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum two years’ experience preferred. BSN preferred. Previous management experience preferred.
- Current RN license or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state in which you work and reside or; if declaring a National License Compact (NLC) state as your primary state of residency, meet the licensure requirements in your home state; or for Non-National License Compact states, current RN license or temporary license as Registered Nurse Petitioner required in the state where the RN works.
- Maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS / ACLS certification
- Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
- Completion of TB test will be required.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
:
- Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must speak and understand English fluently.
- Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger dexterity.
- Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit/department conditions.
- Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
