About the Position:


We are seeking a Systems Engineer, NASA CART, to join our federal Division. The Systems Engineer will support the CART initiative under the JETS II contract, assisting the Lead Systems Engineer and Project Manager with requirements development, system integration, and verification activities. This role ensures technical execution aligns with program goals, cost, and schedule while contributing to the development of complex systems for NASA’s human spaceflight programs. Ideal candidates have experience in systems engineering fundamentals and excel in collaborative, fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities:


  • Support the Lead Systems Engineer in developing and maintaining system requirements, verification matrices, concepts of operations, and interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Assist the Project Manager and LSE with technical execution, milestone tracking, and integration planning.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and program readiness reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.).
  • Support requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability using configuration and data management tools.
  • Contribute to verification and validation planning, ensuring test procedures align with program goals.
  • Perform trade studies, system analyses, and technical evaluations under the guidance of the LSE.
  • Document and communicate technical risks, issues, and mitigation strategies to project leadership.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and operations teams to support seamless system integration.
  • Support the adoption of modern systems engineering practices and continuous process improvement.

General Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in systems engineering, integration, or a related engineering field.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements management, V&V, and configuration control.
  • Experience in structured engineering environments (NASA, aerospace, defense, or similar).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience supporting NASA programs such as EHP, M2M, xEVAS, or Human Landing Systems (HLS).
  • Familiarity with NASA systems engineering standards (NPR 7123.1, NPR 7150.2, etc.).
  • Experience with tools such as Jama, DOORS, Cameo, or other MBSE platforms.
  • Exposure to execution frameworks such as Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid, Lean SE, or Digital Engineering.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under senior engineer direction and contribute to team-based problem solving.
  • Strong interest in learning and applying advanced systems engineering techniques to improve integration and performance.
