Job Description:


The Senior Data Analyst will analyze existing business processes and data workflows to understand current functionality and identify gaps or inefficiencies. The candidate will elicit and document business requirements, create Epics and User Stories with acceptance criteria, and collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and development teams to ensure systems align with business objectives. The role involves presenting data models and dashboards, documenting requirements and processes, and driving improvements to data management practices across the organization.This position is onsite and open only to local candidates in the Austin, TX area.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Analyze current business processes, data flows, and pain points to identify areas for improvement.
  • Elicit and document comprehensive business requirements, translating complex needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Write Epics and User Stories, including acceptance criteria, to communicate requirements to development and QA teams.
  • Design, optimize, and document data workflows and management processes using modeling or mapping tools.
  • Create and maintain data-related documentation, including data dictionaries, business requirement documents, and data mapping specifications.
  • Develop visual data models, dashboards, and reports to communicate trends, performance, and project timelines.
  • Facilitate workshops, meetings, and interviews with stakeholders to gather information and present findings.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and ensure alignment of systems with business objectives.

Required Skills & Experience:


  • 8+ years of hands-on experience as a business or data analyst in IT, demonstrating strong analytical and documentation skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams to analyze complex data-driven problems and recommend solutions.
  • Experience designing and optimizing data workflows and data management processes.
  • Expertise in writing Epics and User Stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Experience creating and maintaining data documentation, including data dictionaries and mapping specifications.
  • Strong ability to develop and present visual data models and dashboards.
  • Demonstrated skill in leading data-focused meetings and resolving data-related issues.

Preferred Skills & Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience managing multiple data projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of eligibility rules for SNAP, Medicaid, or TANF programs, and experience applying state/federal guidelines.
  • Experience leading and coordinating JAD sessions

Eligibility:


Must be local to the Austin area and able to work onsite. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or visa transfer.
