Business Intelligence Developer

The Business Intelligence Developer’s role is to design and develop enterprise data warehouse (EDW), data analysis and reporting solutions and to maintain software solutions in support of business objectives. This includes developing database interfaces to on premise and online multi-tier web and client-server applications, maintaining databases, understanding and evaluating business requirements and translating them into solutions.

Day, position hours are flexible between hours of PST 6:30am – 6:00pm

WAGE: $82,000.00 - $90,000.00
annually, subject to all required taxes and withholdings, with a bonus of up to 10% annually.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop enterprise data warehouse, data analysis and reporting solutions.
- Define, develop, test, analyze and maintain software applications in support of business objectives.
- Develop databases, objects, functions and structures for data storage, retrieval and reporting.
- Design, develop and maintain Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) solutions.
- Design and develop back-end database interfaces to applications including SCADA.
- Manage, monitor and maintain databases, ensuring integrity, stability and high availability.
- Develop automated and reusable routines for extracting requested information from database systems.
- Understand and evaluate business requirements and translate them into specific data warehouse solutions.
- Review and analyze data from multiple sources.
- Develop data cleansing rules.
- Write, code, test and analyze software applications.
- Develop disaster recovery processes and procedure based on Hempler’s recovery objectives and perform annual testing
- Collaborate with business users and programmer analysts in conceptualizing and development of new solutions or enhancements to existing systems.
- Liaise with systems administrators, programmer analysts and vendors to assist in resolving problems with systems.
- Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
- Assist in the definition and documentation of business solution objectives, requirements, deliverables and specifications in collaboration with internal customers and external partners.
- Assist in developing project plans, including scoping, scheduling and implementation.
- Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of company applications as necessary.
- Design, run and monitor performance tests on new and existing systems for the purpose of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
- Root cause analysis to deliver solutions to problem areas.
- Train end users on new or modified applications and reports.
- Conduct research on emerging software development solutions and standards in support of business needs.
- Recommend, schedule and perform solution updates and upgrades.
- Install software products for end users as required.
- Provide 24x7 emergency on call support for BI and related solutions
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Stays abreast of emerging trends in business intelligence and IT systems.
- Develops and maintains excellent relationships with vendors, suppliers and customers – both internal and external.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business preferred.
- Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE) in Business Intelligence
- 5+ years’ work experience performing application and BI development.
- Extensive relational database experience with SQL server
- Extensive business intelligence report and dashboard experience
- Working SCADA knowledge, a plus
- Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry knowledge
- Strong knowledge of SDLC methodology and best practices
- Proficiency in a variety of programming and scripting languages, including but not limited to: Microsoft .Net platform, T-SQL, XML and VBscript (Powershell a plus)
- Competent understanding of application platforms, especially Windows/IIS
- Excellent root-cause and technical analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic project management skills
- Strong written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
