Overview:
Are you preparing for a career in instructional design? Does getting hands-on experience delivering e-learning courses to hundreds of thousands of learners appeal to you? The United Educators Learning Design Team is looking for an Instructional Design Intern for the summer of 2026. Apply today to be part of our team!The Instructional Design Intern will work with the Senior Instructional Designer and the Learning Design Team to support and help deliver e-learning materials on a variety of topics. An extensive degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected.
The intern will experience what it is like to create, design, and evaluate courses and content. Your main goal will be creating and producing a micro course for learners at higher education institutions and K-12 schools.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and refinement of e-learning modules, job aids, and other learning materials.
- Participate in research, storyboarding, and content organization for upcoming courses and learning initiatives.
- Build an assigned project in Articulate Storyline or Rise.
- Help evaluate existing courses and gather feedback to guide enhancements, including scenario updates and accessibility improvements.
- Contribute to project coordination tasks.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned in support of the Learning Design team’s goals.
Requirements:
- BS/BA required; must be currently enrolled in MA or MEd in Instructional Design, Learning Science (Andragogy) or related field from an accredited university
- Fundamental understanding of adult learning theories and interest in educational technology
- Demonstrate a high level of determination and creativity and ability to work independently—a self-starter
- Strong, professional communication, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency with various e-learning tools, including Articulate 360 (Storyline and Rise) and Microsoft Office
- Interest in media development using the Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Premiere, Audition)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Online portfolio with sample projects (e.g., storyboards, prototypes) demonstrating a strong foundational understanding of instructional design and core e-learning development skills
- Experience or interest in using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to enhance development efficiency
- Interest or experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG for e-learning development

The below hourly range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
