As Assistant Controller at Samba TV, you'll play a critical role in strengthening our financial operations and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insights as we scale. You'll partner with cross-functional teams across our global operations and lead key accounting processes that drive business decisions.WHAT YOU'LL DO
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead the preparation of audit schedules, and external reporting requirements
- Manage technical accounting research and documentation for complex transactions
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal accounting policies
- Manage state and federal tax return compliance
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and mentor accounting team members (2-4 direct reports), providing guidance on technical accounting matters
- Build scalable accounting processes and systems to support rapid company growth
- Collaborate with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Legal, and Business Development teams on deal structures and revenue recognition
- Partner with international teams in Hamburg, Warsaw, London, Taipei and Porto on consolidation and reporting
Strategic Accounting Operations
- Drive process improvements and automation initiatives using NetSuite, FloQast, MineralTree and other systems as required
- Support M&A due diligence and integration activities as the company expands
- International expansion including evaluating internal solutions (currently utilizing an external provider)
Technical Accounting & Special Projects
- Analyze and implement new accounting standards (ASC 842, etc.)
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
- Support budget and forecast processes with variance analysis
- Support special projects including system implementations, policy development, and process documentation
- Assist with cost allocations (departments, product lines, etc.)
WHO YOU ARE
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required (or CPA-eligible with completion within 1 year)
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in public accounting (Big 4 preferred)
- Strong technical GAAP knowledge with experience in SaaS/technology company accounting
- Proven experience managing month-end close and financial reporting processes
- Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills and experience with modern ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications- Experience at a high-growth technology company, pre-IPO company, or publicly traded company
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls framework
- Experience with international consolidation and multi-currency accounting
- Background in ad-tech, media, or data/analytics industries
- Experience with financial systems implementation or significant process improvement initiatives

$175,000 - $200,000 a yearSamba TV expects to offer a base salary between $175,000 - $200,000 per year for roles to be performed in New York or California; actual base salary offered will depend on various factors, including but not limited to, location, experience, and performance. Base salary is just one component of Samba TV’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses, short-term incentives, and long-term incentives.
