About the Role
We’re looking for an ESRI GIS Engineer to own our ESRI platform and map services across ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online/Enterprise. You’ll design, publish, and maintain advanced map/feature services and ensure ESRI products are installed and configured professionally. You’ll explore ESRI capabilities and run POCs to see how they can support our business use cases. You’ll work closely with backend and product teams to turn requirements into robust GIS solutions.
Requirements – ESRI GIS Engineer
Must Have
- Strong hands-on experience with core ESRI stack, especially:
- ArcGIS Server (administering, publishing, and managing services)
- ArcGIS Pro (data preparation, map authoring, analysis, publishing)
- ArcGIS Online / ArcGIS Enterprise Portal (web maps, feature/ map services, content management)
- Proven experience creating, publishing, and managing advanced map services on:
- ArcGIS Server installed on on-prem/enterprise servers
- ArcGIS Online / Enterprise Portal
- Solid experience installing, configuring, and upgrading ESRI products in an enterprise environment (server components, desktop tools, connectors, etc.), following best practices for reliability and security.
- Strong understanding of GIS fundamentals:
- Coordinate systems, projections, georeferencing
- Spatial data models (vector, raster)
- Geoprocessing, spatial analysis basics
- Experience working with enterprise geodatabases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server) for spatial data:
- Data modeling and schema design
- Performance tuning for spatial queries
- Data maintenance workflows
- Experience designing performant, scalable map and feature services, including:
- Layer and scale optimization
- Caching/tiling strategies
- Generalization and data preparation for web performance
- Ability and mindset to explore and adopt new ESRI capabilities (for example: indoor / floor-aware mapping, positioning, analytics, routing, dashboards, etc.) and translate them into practical services and solutions for business use cases.
- Proven experience running POCs (proofs of concept) or pilots:
- Evaluating which ESRI tools/features can solve a given business problem
- Presenting findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- C# development skills, for:
- Backend integration with ESRI services
- Automation tools or utilities around ESRI workflows
- Consuming and exposing REST APIs
- Experience with Python for geoprocessing
- Understanding of the ESRI REST API and how to integrate ESRI services into other systems (backend services, web apps, dashboards).
- Good understanding of security and access control in ESRI environments:
- Users, roles, groups
- Service security, tokens, and basic OAuth-based access patterns
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of ESRI JavaScript API (ArcGIS JS SDK) or other web mapping libraries, and willingness to use it to support front-end teams.
- Experience integrating GIS with IoT / real-time data (live locations, sensors, tracking, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud deployments of ESRI solutions (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise on Azure/AWS) and basic infrastructure concepts.
