Role Overview
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the timely transfer of packaging materials to the Filling Department by safely operating powered industrial equipment to move packaging, finished goods, and other materials as needed.Using the Warehouse Management System (WMS), the Inventory Specialist/Forklift Operator will pick and prepare orders based on SKU and lot numbers, maintain accurate bin location data, perform regular cycle counts, and keep the warehouse floor organized and free of excess pallets.This role will move materials to and from trucks and storage areas using a forklift and manually handle boxes with a cherry picker as required.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to perform basic math, and capable of maintaining accurate inventory records while coordinating with the Warehouse Supervisor, Inventory Coordinator, and Inventory Clerk.The goal is to ensure accurate inventory control, proper stock availability, and timely, precise material transfers.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive transfer requests from the Supervisor and use the WMS to pick items by LOT and prepare them for loading and shipment to BR1.
- Ensure all picked items are properly palletized.
- Verify each box has the correct label and that quantities match the transfer request before submitting.
- Perform regular cycle counts, including SKU details, units per box, lot numbers, and box counts per pallet.
- Receive packing lists/BOLs from vendors, verifying descriptions, quantities, and purchase orders, report discrepancies to the Supervisor.
- Label incoming products once product ID labels are printed; ensure each pallet is properly identified.
- Store pallets in their designated locations following inventory control guidelines.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and ensure batteries are charged when needed.
- Dispose of warehouse waste materials in designated containers.
- Move goods safely throughout the warehouse in accordance with safety regulations.
- Follow all safe-equipment-operation guidelines to prevent injury to self or others.
- Report on unsafe working conditions and suggest improvements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications
- Valid forklift license/certification required (OSHA-compliant).
- Strong basic math, reading, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Ability to follow equipment operation instructions and perform regular inspections.
- Must complete tasks accurately, safely, and on time.
Working Conditions
- Frequent sitting while operating a forklift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical movements such as bending, standing, walking, twisting, pivoting, and standing for long periods.
- Good balance and hand-eye-foot coordination.
- Ability to assess weights, distances, and heights accurately.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures depending on the season.
