We have an immediate opening for a Research Intern - In Vitro Development (8-12 month term, January 2026 start). This position is available in Calgary, AB.The position will be available up to 32 hours/week with potential to move to 40 hours/week. The In Vitro Development Team is at the forefront of evaluating and optimizing our innovative formulations before they move into advanced testing. From designing and running cell-based assays to characterizing performance, we transform data into insights that shape the future of our vaccine candidates.

How we plan on keeping you busy:


  • Support the development and optimization of in vitro assays for formulation screening and characterization.
  • Assist in mammalian cell culture, including routine passaging and maintenance under supervision.
  • Prepare reagents, buffers, and solutions according to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for reagents, consumables, and cell stocks.
  • Execute and help analyze in vitro experiments, documenting results. Support general laboratory activities such as equipment cleaning, calibration, and upkeep.
  • Collaborate closely with scientists to troubleshoot technical challenges and meet project deliverables on time.
  • Contribute to internal data presentations and scientific discussions.
  • Follow good laboratory practices (GLP), good documentation practices (GDP), and safety guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What will help you get here:


Essential:


  • Must be enrolled as a post-secondary student during the work term.
  • Eligible for BioTalent Canada WIL funding.
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related life sciences discipline.
  • Experience working in a biology, biochemistry, or cell culture laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow experimental protocols.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt and collaborate in a fast-paced R&D setting.

Preferred:


  • Familiarity with mammalian cell culture techniques, ELISA, or basic molecular biology methods.
  • Understanding of in vitro assay principles, such as binding assays or reporter assays.
  • Previous experience with laboratory inventory management systems.
  • Awareness of biosafety requirements and laboratory safety best practices.
