Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available databases across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Manage the full database lifecycle, including provisioning, maintenance, patching,
- upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Architect and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure
- business continuity.
- Monitor and optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and
- indexing strategies.
- Automate operational tasks such as monitoring, patching, and provisioning using
- scripting and configuration tools.
- Administer and support Oracle (RAC, Data Guard, Golden Gate, ASM), PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server (Always On, SSIS, SSRS).
- Support additional database technologies such as MongoDB, MySQL, or Cassandra.
- Enforce security, access control, and compliance requirements across all database
- Act as an escalation point for complex database issues, providing 24/7 on-call support
- and root cause analysis.
- Maintain thorough documentation of database architecture, configurations, and
- operational standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of professional experience in database administration and engineering, specifically, within an Infrastructure and Operations context.
- Proven mastery of multiple database platforms, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server.
- Expertise in database security, performance tuning, and high availability configurations (e.g., clustering, replication, failover).
- Strong experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Excellent scripting and automation skills (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, PostgreSQL certification).
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Experience with database migration projects, including cross-platform migrations.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.
