About the role


As a Developer Relations Engineer, you’ll be Foxglove’s technical storyteller and community builder. You’ll create engaging technical content — from explanation videos and tutorials to live demos and event talks — that help roboticists and developers get the most out of Foxglove.You’ll represent Foxglove at conferences, online communities, and meetups, serving as the voice of our developer audience internally. You’ll combine creativity, empathy, and technical depth to inspire adoption, gather feedback, and foster collaboration across the robotics ecosystem.

Location


Foxglove is a remote-friendly company, with employees spread across many locations. We maintain Pacific Time hours and hire within ±4 hours of U.S. time zones to ensure effective collaboration.For this role, we ideally looking for someone to work onsite from our office in San Francisco, since there will be significant robot hardware interactions.

What you'll do


  • Create world-class technical content — including videos, blog posts, guides, tutorials, and live demos — that help developers understand and adopt Foxglove’s products.
  • Livestream and share stories from robotics events, hackathons, and community gatherings to showcase innovation and celebrate users.
  • Engage actively in online communities (Reddit, Slack, Discord, GitHub, LinkedIn, X, and forums) — answering questions, joining conversations, and amplifying developer voices.
  • Grow and support the Foxglove community, helping members coordinate in-person meetups, hackathons, and study groups around robotics and AI.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to surface developer feedback, identify friction points, and inform product decisions.
  • Experiment with creative ways to expand awareness of Foxglove across emerging channels — from short-form video to developer podcasts.
  • Manage and optimize social media presence, using analytics to refine posting days, times, and content themes for maximum engagement.
  • Represent Foxglove at events — speaking, demoing, and connecting with developers and partners in person and online.
  • Contribute to open source and sample projects, helping developers learn by example and building trust through authentic technical contributions.
  • Champion developer experience internally, ensuring that documentation, onboarding, and APIs are clear, consistent, and delightful.

What we're looking for


  • Technical fluency: 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, developer advocate, or DevRel professional — ideally in developer tools, robotics, or open source
  • Strong communicator: Exceptional ability to explain complex technical topics clearly through writing, video, and live presentation.
  • Content creator: Experience producing educational or narrative technical content — blogs, YouTube videos, tutorials, or live streams.
  • Community builder: Passion for engaging with developers and nurturing relationships that grow organically over time. Prior experience running technical events, hackathons, or community programs
  • Creative storyteller: Comfortable experimenting with tone, format, and medium to bring Foxglove’s story to life.
  • Data-informed: Skilled at using analytics to measure engagement, optimize reach, and guide community strategy.
  • Collaborative partner: Works cross-functionally with product, marketing, and engineering to align messaging and amplify impact.
  • Familiarity with robotics: simulation, ROS (Robot Operating System), Physical AI ecosystems.

Compensation Range: $180K - $230K
