We are looking for a Manager of Spatial & Mechanical Integration to join our team. The goal of this role at Wisk is to ensure that all aspects of the aircraft mechanical and physical integration is safe and certifiable. You will be part of the Wisk Gen 6 aircraft team that is bringing a commercial autonomous air taxi to the market.This is a onsite work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View HQ office. As part of the Gen 6 aircraft team you will manage the Aircraft spatial integration team for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market.  This role leads the team who ensures that aircraft is perfectly mechanically integrated, from concept design to final production, managing all major mechanical interfaces, controlling tolerances and vehicle alignment and symmetry, and the weight and balance of the aircraft as the roll up of all aircraft hardware.

Your responsibilities will span all stages of the development and certification program.  

Role Responsibilities:


  • You will provide technical oversight, give clear direction for the team, manage priorities, and provide coordination with the rest of the aircraft team.
  • Hire, reward, mentor, retain, and support the development of great people.
  • Provide programmatic support including: planning, budget development, and process developement
  • Engage proactively with program leaders to ensure alignment, and clear communication of solutions and issues.

  • You will take part in supporting the development of Gen 6 aircraft by ensuring that the aircraft is able to meet product, certification and safety requirements.
  • Lead and support Spatial Integration across the Aircraft to ensure all hardware and systems are spatially integrated, meeting all zonal, clearance and accessibility requirements.
  • Ensure System Safety aspects (Zonal, Environmental,etc) are considered throughout the design and addressed by the architecture and system design. 

Requirements:


  • 12 years of industry experience in aircraft and/or rotorcraft development, with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Successfully worked and collaborated on solving spatial/volume integration issues with cross-functional teams of engineers and technicians through complex, fast moving aircraft development programs. 
  • You have worked on many aircraft types and in various phases of an aircraft development program. 
  • You led and closed many configuration trade studies, both during concept design, as well as after design freeze managing root cause and correction action leading to certifiable aircraft solutions.
  • You have directly managed small teams of mechanical and systems engineers in an aircraft integration team, 
  • You have held MRB or equivalent sign off approval for defects and deviations
  • Very experienced with standard aerospace CAD systems, preferably NX. 
  • You are a solution-oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset.
  • You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communications to suit the audience.
  • You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timely fashion.
  • You embrace challenges and take commitments and deliver results within reasonable expectations.
  • You are a positive team player and know how to collaborate.
  • You are excited to learn about the team, and leverage the hard learned lessons of the past 14+ years of eVTOL development here at Wisk.

Desired:


  • You have a strong and applied knowledge of complex safety critical systems development process methodologies and associated practices such as but not limited to ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-297
  • You have a strong and applied understanding of the certification regulations from several of the following: Part 23, 25, 27, 29, 33, 35.

  • Familiarity with Jira, Git, or other software product lifecycle management tools
  • Been part of a program, or programs, working on a clean sheet novel aircraft from concept design to certification. 
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink, Python and C/C++
