Full-timeDescriptionThe Information Systems Cyber Security Analyst reports to the Information Systems Manager and has primary responsibility for the digital security of the library. The Information Systems Cyber Security Analyst will assist in advising the Information Systems Manager on the security posture of the library. This includes developing, configuring, documenting, and maintaining security tools and solutions.  The IS Cyber Security Analyst will assist in developing policies and procedures to protect the library from cyber threats.

They will also be responsible for ensuring we are compliant with any industry security regulations or requirements as dictated by the activities employed by the library. Actively monitors new vulnerabilities or threats that may apply to library systems and suggests or implements mitigation strategies in keeping with Library Policies. Assist in ongoing risk assessment and management to ensure the digital safety of library staff and patrons. This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $60,000 - $68,000 with excellent benefits.

Position is open until filled.    

Schedule


Monday - Friday: 8 am - 5 pm. On call as necessary. 

Job Duties (Essential Functions)


  • Develops and oversees the system's security architecture, defining standards and protocols for secure traversal from system to system.  
  • Collaborates with the Information Systems Manager, Network Administrator and Helpdesk team to define and oversee Library-wide security standards to ensure that technology services are secure, reliable, and that there is data integrity and privacy of information.
  • Monitors existing and emerging compliance needs of the library as it pertains to the various systems in use at the library. Some examples will include PCI, GDPR, ISO 27001 and others as needs emerge. 
  • Assists in designing, implementing and maintaining a diverse set of security tools and technologies which will likely include Malware and Application Control, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) in order to sustain the library’s Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) approach to perimeter security.
  • Assists in securing the library’s cloud storage environments for user scoping, design and access.
  • Participates in after-hours on-call support.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Requirements

  • Possess knowledge of the library’s technology service goals and able to collaborate internally in the department and in the library to meet those goals with guidance from the Information Systems Manager.
  • Ability to analyze and assess risk then make recommendations on possible solutions to resolve or mitigate issues. 
  • Knowledgeable of current cyber security trends and able to recommend / implement cyber security solutions as risk dictates throughout the Library. 
  • Excellent and demonstrable troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to ask questions to determine solution efficacy and appropriateness.
  • Possess operational understanding of IP-based networking technologies, cloud-managed networking, and virtualization platforms.
  • Microsoft Ecosystem Administration knowledge preferred. 
  • Must have valid driver’s license and ability to travel.

  • Required Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology-related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience with focus on Cyber Security. Preferred experience working in a library, government, or academic field. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT field.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience within a Cyber Security focused role.
  • 1 - 2 years of experience within a Systems Administrator role.
  • Comptia Security+, CySA+, CISSP, CISSA are preferred, but not required. 
  • Ability to speak and understand English is required, additional consideration will be given to individuals that are proficient in any non-English languages used in Jackson County, MO including Spanish, American Sign Language, Vietnamese, French, Arabic, and Swahili.

  • Work Environment


    Work is performed at the Library’s Administrative Annex and Library Branches throughout the district. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers in an office environment, other work will be performed in a public space amongst staff and patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.
