Overview
VectorUSA is seeking a highly motivated, charismatic, and experienced Estimator II to support our nationwide sales team from our Torrance office. This role is part of VectorUSA’s Engineering & Estimation Department (EED) and will support both Sales and EED teams with client interactions, consultations, designs, and proposals.The Estimator III will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and written proposals for new and existing clients, with a strong emphasis on
structured cabling and physical security.
Knowledge shall include conventional fiber, horizontal copper, backbone ISP, OSP, conduit, raceway, surveillance, and access control. Knowledge in air-blown fiber is desirable but not required. Additionally, basic knowledge in
Switching, Routing, or Wireless is highly desirable. Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in pre-sales meetings with clients and internal staff to determine and document solution requirements
- Interface with manufacturers, purchasing agents, suppliers, customers, and internal staff
- Review RFPs, RFQs, SOWs, floor plans, and design documents
- Provide detailed written documentation of meetings, calls, site walks, and scopes
- Prepare comprehensive bills of materials and cost estimates
- Develop conceptual and design drawings using Visio or Bluebeam
- Review written proposals and BOMs to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
- Support Operations teams throughout project execution by answering technical questions
- Participate in project kickoff meetings
Required Qualifications
- Proven ability to perform the Estimator role independently
- 5+ years of experience in Structured Cabling (ISP and OSP), pathway, distribution systems design, physical security and estimating
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret RFPs, specifications, and drawings
- Skilled at developing designs to improve system functionality
- High attention to detail and proactive problem-solving ability
- Understanding of project management principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Must be able to pass a Department of Justice (DOJ) background check
- Must be able to pass a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check
Preferred Certifications
- RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
- Manufacturer certifications in copper/fiber infrastructure, VoIP, networking, or wireless technologies
- Previous field/installation experience
Additional Information
- Local travel to jobsites will be required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: Starting at $90,000 per year, with the potential for a higher offer based on experience, certifications, and technical expertise.
