By providing our suppliers and customers with streamlined services, they are able to focus on their core business.ResponsibilitiesThe Risk Analyst works closely with commercial teams to understand strategies and risk to provide accurate, timely, proactive and insightful reporting and analysis. Strong critical thinking skills are applied to identify and solve problems and drive improvements.
- Create and report daily P/L and position reports for the commercial desks and executive team.
- Provide timely and accurate attribution of changes related to market movements and trading activities, including commentary on key drivers.
- Review reports to ensure deal capture, positions, price curves and settlement prices are accurately reflected.
- Regularly reconcile the exposure with traders and operators to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with international offices and different departments to resolve position and P/L discrepancies.
- Ensure that commercial transactions and related risks are appropriately defined and captured by the Company’s risk systems and risk methodologies. Assist in the setup and configuration to ensure accurate trade modelling.
- Monitor exposures against market risk metrics and limits and proactively work with business leaders regarding limit violations and the redistribution of risk capital.
- Analyze risks and returns related to new products, markets and structured deals and liaise with the business functions to assure risks are understood, appropriate for the risk appetite of the business and correctly reported.
- Identify, analyze and report significant commodity risks and assist in risk related queries, projects and analysis.
- Identify stress tests to determine the circumstances under which the business portfolio could incur material losses and assist in analyzing strategies to mitigate unwanted exposures.
- Apply technology to drive improvements and efficiencies in reporting, processes and the development of analytical tools.
- Contribute to special projects, such as: ETRM and related technology projects, new product initiatives and periodic accounting close activities.
- Contribute to the development of the Risk capability and to the collaborative and positive working environment.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or similar field)
- Knowledge of financial market mechanics, valuation of physical/financial contracts
- Advanced Excel and VBA/SQL skills, knowledge of database and data management concepts. Python is a plus.
- Initiative, critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems independently
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, writing and presentation skills
- Capacity to work under time-sensitive business and reporting deadlines
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience in energy trading, finance or banking
- Product knowledge in gas, oil, and/or petrochemical markets
- Experience with trading and risk management systems
- Experience with the development, implementation, application, and oversight of risk metrics and models
- Knowledge of quantitative risk management models and methodologies
