MBL Technologies is seeking an experienced Security Infrastructure Support Database Administrator to join our team supporting a federal government client. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining secure, reliable, and compliant database environments across hybrid infrastructures that include both on-premises and cloud systems. 

This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Bethesda, MD area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award.


Key Responsibilities: 


  • Design, install, configure, maintain, and support database systems across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
  • Administer and optimize databases supporting mission-critical federal systems, ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity and data protection standards.
  • Support and maintain common database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, across hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement security controls, compliance measures, and remediation plans in alignment with federal standards (e.g., FISMA, NIST 800-53, OMB M-21-31, CDM).
  • Participate in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response activities related to database infrastructure.
  • Provide technical documentation, reports, and executive-level summaries detailing database performance, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in migration and modernization efforts involving database systems moving to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Office 365, ensuring data integrity and security hardening.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and third-party vendors to ensure seamless integration, patch management, and support for database operations.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance, security, and operational issues within the database environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • 5+ years of experience designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting database systems within hybrid infrastructures (on-premises and cloud).
  • 2+ years of experience in cybersecurity or information security.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security concepts, services, and operations (AWS, Azure, O365), including migration and database security hardening.
  • Experience supporting and upgrading common enterprise database platforms in hybrid environments.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks, including FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-92, OMB M-21-31, and CDM.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and security concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities for identifying root causes and resolving technical and security issues.
  • Experience working collaboratively with third-party vendors and multidisciplinary teams in support of enterprise systems.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:


  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, Security+, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
  • Prior experience supporting federal government programs or working within a federal compliance environment.
  • Experience implementing automated monitoring, logging, and security analytics for databases in hybrid infrastructures.
