This is an L3 opportunity. Successful candidates often come from senior engineering roles and are experienced in leading complex projects, mentoring peers, and making architectural contributions across teams.
About the role
At Envoy we’re writing the operating system for the modern office: a fully‑integrated platform that lets employees reserve desks and rooms, greet visitors, track deliveries, receive emergency alerts, and see interactive maps of the workplace —while our real‑time pipelines unify badge swipes, Wi‑Fi pings, sensors, and more into a single analytics engine that facilities teams use to right‑size space and budgets. This infrastructure already powers 16,000 workplaces and 9,000+ companies—including names like Netflix, Disney, GitHub, and Nvidia—and it’s the only solution on the market that truly connects people, spaces, and data end‑to‑end.
Join our lean, product‑driven engineering team and you’ll design resilient micro‑services, build blazing‑fast mobile experiences, craft models that predict occupancy, and ship features that shape how millions collaborate every day. If you want to solve juicy real‑world problems at global scale—and see your code light up offices around the world—come build the future of work with us.
This on-site position requires 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday) in our San Francisco HQ office.
You will
- Design, build, and own major product features end-to-end: from discovery and API design to front-end implementation, testing, rollout, and monitoring.
- Partner closely with Product and Design teams to turn ambiguous problems into high-impact features and initiatives.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience.
- Improve the platform: pay down tech debt, evolve shared components, and raise the bar via code reviews and pairing.
- Elevate your team by fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and driving technical excellence.
You are
- Energized by fast-paced, high-impact work with tight feedback loops.
- Excited to join a team that values product velocity and rapid iteration.
- Passionate about exceptional UX for both small businesses and large enterprises.
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, curious, and highly collaborative.
You have
- A BS / MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5+ years building production web applications, including shipping React frontends and a strongly-typed backend (e.g., TypeScript, Kotlin, Java, Go, or Ruby).
- Experience designing and building backend services, databases, and APIs.
- Fluency in modern workflows: Git, CI/CD, feature flags, testing at multiple layers, and cloud deployment.
- A track record of leading projects or mentoring engineers in medium to large environments.
- A product mindset: you care about usability, performance, accessibility, and measurable outcomes, not just code.
You'll get
- The chance to make an immediate impact on how companies create better workplace experiences.
- Trust and autonomy to propose ideas, drive execution, and own meaningful outcomes.
- Collaboration with talented teammates across Engineering, Product, and Design.
- A welcoming, inclusive community that values authenticity, learning, and belonging.
- Support for your growth, both personally and professionally.
Bonus points
- You’re excited about working in a startup environment and taking new products from 0 → 1.
- You have experience with Ruby on Rails and/or legacy Ember.js migrations.
- You contribute to open-source projects.
