POSITION SUMMARY


The Virtual Chief Information Officer (vCIO) is responsible for the strategic IT roadmapping, planning and budgeting for a portfolio of clients. The vCIO provides strategic direction, oversight and governance for the clients’ business outcomes using technology, which includes, but not limited to, developing and managing each client’s Technology Roadmap and IT Budget. In addition to IT leadership, the vCIO serves as a business analyst who examines and optimizes client business workflows and processes to identify opportunities to increase revenue, reduce risk and reduce or optimize costs through automation and AI.

This role requires strong analytical, consultative and communication skills to bridge business objectives with innovative technology solutions. The position will require client related travel with the occasional business trip. This position requires an individual to work 8am-5pm PST, Monday-Friday.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop and implement strategic IT roadmaps for a diverse portfolio of clients
  • Provide comprehensive planning, budgeting and execution of IT initiatives that align with client business objectives
  • Analyze business workflow and processes to identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for automation or AI-driven optimization
  • Translate business needs into actionable technology strategies that improve profitability and reduce operational friction
  • Provide technology leadership and consultation to clients in multiple industries
  • Facilitate strategic technology planning sessions with client executives and stakeholders
  • Develop technology roadmaps and budgets that align to client input and business goals
  • Lead client Quarterly Business Reviews to maintain alignment between client business goals, technology roadmaps and IT budgets
  • Conduct regular IT initiatives status reviews with clients via calls or meetings
  • Evaluate and propose technology solutions based on client needs and requirements
  • Articulate complex technical concepts and options to non-technical executives
  • Advocate for the clients’ best interests
  • Actively listen to client concerns and feedback and coordinate appropriate action with the respective, internal team(s)
  • Communicate effectively in high pressure situations
  • Interface with technical teams to review and scope technology solutions
  • Evaluate and recommend automation and AI solutions that enhance productivity and decision-making
  • Interface with technical teams to review and scope technology and automation solutions
  • Coordinate cross-functionally among internal, external and client teams to deliver measurable business results.
  • Assist client with managing IT and technology related contract renewals
  • Keep centrexIT’s contracts and invoicing up-to-date and accurate with the help of the Client Success Team
  • Ensure clients’ support requirements align with centrexIT’s support resources
  • Identify opportunities within client networks that convert into the creation, tracking and closing of IT project proposals to clients
  • Manage proposal requests, creations, effort estimates and client strategy documentation.

STANDARDS FOR SUCCESS


  • Establish and maintains positive and constructive relationships with Client Leadership
  • Conducts 100% of Quarterly Business Reviews as scheduled 
  • Maintains up-to-date Technology Roadmaps for all clients
  • Retains 100% of existing clients and wins 80% of scoped client projects each quarter
  • Manages consistent Client Project quotes and approvals aligned with Technology Roadmaps
  • Ensures automation and AI recommendations align with measurable client KPIs
  • Meets regularly with virtual IT Managers to stay aligned on Client responsibilities
  • Ensure Client Satisfaction with the strategic and measurable value of services provided.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong strategic and business mindset 
  • Proven ability to work effectively with executives and decision makers
  • Solid understanding of business operations, budgeting and how IT supports the business
  • Proven ability to analyze workflows, business processes and data to identify automation and AI opportunities
  • Experience using business analysis tools and frameworks (e.g., process mapping, gap analysis, workflow documentation)
  • Skill in preparing written communications and materials
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changes quickly
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably as a vCIO or IT Director
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices
  • Excellent strategic planning and business acumen
  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver on IT initiatives
  • Ability to adapt and handle high-pressure situations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • BA/BS, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or a related field
  • Previous experience as an IT Director, CIO or Business Analyst preferred
