Position Summary


Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is a trusted partner of federal health agencies, seeking a talented Media Relations Specialist to join our team supporting a Federal government agency. This role is ideal for professionals with 5-8 years of experience in media relations and public affairs, particularly within a Federal environment. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting, working closely with senior government officials and health experts to deliver timely, accurate, and accessible information to the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Respond promptly and effectively to media inquiries in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with senior government leaders.
  • Translate complex health and policy topics into clear, plain language for media and public audiences. 
  • Draft, edit, distribute press releases, media advisories, talking points, and other communications materials.
  • Monitor media coverage and provide concise, insightful briefings on emerging issues and public sentiment.
  • Coordinate interviews, press events, and other media engagements for agency spokespeople and subject matter experts.
  • Support crisis communications and rapid response efforts as needed.
  • Ensure all communications align with agency standards for clarity, accuracy, and accessibility.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in media relations and public affairs, preferably within Federal government or agency settings.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a focus on clarity and audience relevance.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
