Industrial Security Intern
to support our
National Industrial Security Program (NISP)
. This role offers hands-on experience with compliance protocols established by the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community (IC). As an Industrial Security Intern, you'll support the Facility Security Officer and team with daily operations at a cleared facility. Responsibilities include maintaining personnel security records, processing visit requests, assisting with access authorizations, and supporting briefings and compliance reporting. You'll gain exposure to NISPOM, classified information protection, and take part in audits, inspections, and self-assessments.

and Contract Special Access Program Security Officer (CSSO)
. You’ll contribute to a range of tasks—from personnel security processing to classified document handling—gaining practical insight into how industrial security is maintained in a high-compliance environment.
This position builds on the technical foundation and professional behaviors needed for future full-time roles.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Assist in personnel security processing, including e-QIP initiation, Visit Access Requests (VARs), and clearance tracking.
- Support SCI nomination packages, indoctrinations/briefings, and debriefing documentation.
- Maintain and update access rosters, training trackers, and personnel security files to ensure audit readiness.
- Assist with managing classified materials, including document accountability, destruction, and courier preparation.
- Shadow FSO/AFSO during DCSA inspections, internal security self-reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Contribute to physical security procedures such as visitor control, badge management, and access monitoring.
- Help design and deliver security awareness communications, briefings, and training content.
- Support compliance initiatives involving NISPOM/32 CFR Part 117, DoDM 5200.01, and JSIG/DAAPM.
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Security Studies, Political Science, Criminal Justice, International Relations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in Industrial Security, National Security, or NISP compliance.
EVEN BETTER
- Familiarity with NISPOM, 32 CFR Part 117, DoDM 5200.01, or equivalent security policies.
- Previous internship, coursework, or projects related to national or government security.
- Exposure to DISS, NISS, SIMS, or similar security management systems.
- Aspiration to pursue Industrial Security certifications (e.g., FSO certification, ISP, etc.).
