Job Summary:The Cloud Systems Analyst helps operate and support the organization’s cloud and server environment to ensure secure, reliable, and available services. This role focuses on monitoring, incident response, patching, backups, access requests, and standard changes using documented runbooks. The Analyst collaborates with the Cloud Systems Administrator and Engineering to implement approved changes, validate deployments, and keep systems healthy and well-documented.
Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Monitor infrastructure health, respond to alerts, and resolve routine incidents to meet SLAs.
- Perform standard changes: OS patching, package updates, certificate renewals, AMI refresh, and snapshot tasks under guidance.
- Execute and verify backups, test restores on a schedule, and document results.
- Triage service requests and incidents in the ticketing system, escalate when needed, and keep clear notes.
- Assist with user and service account administration, AD group membership, IAM permission updates, and least-privilege reviews.
- Maintain Git repositories for runbooks and configs, submit pull requests for small improvements, and follow branching rules.
- Support application deployments by running checklists, validating health checks, and rolling back when required.
- Assist with network tasks: DNS records in Route 53, security group rule reviews, and VPN account onboarding.
- Operate monitoring and logging tools, tune noisy alerts, and create simple operational dashboards and reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation: runbooks, diagrams, inventory, backup matrices, and how-to guides.
- Participate in an on-call rotation with senior backup after ramp-up.
- Contribute to security and compliance activities: patch compliance reporting, vulnerability remediation follow-ups, and audit evidence collection.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration: services, logs, patching, storage, and permissions.
- Familiarity with AWS core services: EC2, S3, RDS basics, VPC concepts, security groups, IAM, CloudWatch.
- Basic networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VPN concepts.
- Scripting for routine tasks using Bash or PowerShell.
- Experience with Git and a ticketing system.
- Familiarity with containers and Docker basics; comfortable running and troubleshooting containers on a single host.
- Clear written documentation and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving with a customer service mindset and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Associate or Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2–4 years of professional IT experience in systems or cloud operations.
- 1–2 years hands-on with AWS in an operational support capacity.
Experience supporting VPN and basic network troubleshooting is preferred.
