Job Summary:
The Commis Chef assists in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. This role is an entry-level kitchen position designed to support daily operations, maintain hygiene standards, and ensure consistency in food quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items in accordance with recipes and standards.
- Support senior chefs in all sections of the kitchen as required.
- Ensure high levels of cleanliness, organization, and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
- Properly store and label all food items and maintain stock rotation.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations.
- Learn and develop new cooking techniques and skills.
- Assist with receiving and checking deliveries to ensure quality and quantity.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in good working condition and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Work efficiently to support a smooth kitchen operation during service.
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen or culinary experience preferred, but not required.
- Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety practices.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
