Position Summary
The Sr. Director, Client Engagement is responsible for leading AGDATA’s client engagement strategy for National, Strategic, and Key Manufacturers, as well as for AGDATA’s channel partners (both as data submitters and as buyers). This role oversees a team of Engagement Managers and Project Managers, leading the Sr. Manager, Strategic & Emerging/Key Accounts and the Sr. Manager, Project Management, to ensure high-quality service delivery, operational excellence, and strategic account growth. The Senior Director partners cross-functionally to align client needs with AGDATA’s capabilities.
Drives standards and continuous improvement across engagement and project management functions. Essential Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in account management, client service, strategic program management, and/or relationship management in a data- and technology-driven business.
- Experience engaging client partners at all levels, including senior executives of F1000 companies and driving relationships and action at these levels. Ability to teach others how to build internal and external stakeholder networks based on strong, trusted relationships.
- Experience in developing and producing insights and associated materials for very senior client audiences.
- Experience managing and developing client-facing professionals, as well as building strong internal cross-functional partnerships dedicated to delivering software and operational solutions for customers of all sizes.
- Strong process-orientation, analytical skills, and ability to build SOPs and MBOs that drive continuous improvement.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with internal functions, leading effectively via influence.
Additional Skills, Qualifications & Certifications
- Agricultural industry experience preferred, especially with sales and marketing teams
- Experience with financial services technology and/or SaaS ecosystems helpful
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other Agile certifications helpful
Responsibilities/Core Duties
- Both directly and through the Sr. Managers reporting to this role, lead a team of Engagement Managers (EMs) and Project Managers who manage client and submitter relationships across multiple project tracks and teams.
- Ensure that team members understand and support client business objectives, as well as AGDATA objectives built on a foundation of solid knowledge of AGDATA services and capabilities.
- Primary responsibility is to ensure that Engagement Managers properly set and manage client expectations, holding both internal and external stakeholders accountable for delivering desired outcomes and that Project Managers proactively build and execute production schedules to high levels of quality, including both R&M (run and maintain) and strategic projects for assigned clients.
- Builds and evolves “Play Books” that provide EMs and PMs with clarity regarding roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities.
- Develop a team of highly self-directed Engagement Managers & Project Managers who utilize and improve standard tools (e.g. Jira plans, Account Plans, Salesforce, dashboards, meeting templates, metrics, etc.)
- Select, onboard, lead, and develop team members for EM and PM positions in both the US and Canada. Manage performance to ensure consistently high client satisfaction (set yearly performance metrics, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching via 1:1s).
- Work with COO to define and achieve EM & PM objectives that align with key AGDATA priorities and continuous improvement of our collective capabilities.
- Work with Engagement Managers, National Account Managers/Sales and Product Management to identify opportunities to offer new solutions to support client success.
- Serve as client escalation point to provide EM support.
- Attend selected internal and external meetings to observe EMs and PMs “in action” and provide feedback for growth. Support EMs in preparing for critical client meetings and deliverables, particularly retrospectives and strategic planning discussions.
- Facilitates and/or attends various leadership and operational meetings to shape culture, foster ongoing collaboration cross-functionally, and share just-in-time updates that keep team members connected to AGDATA priorities.
- Support ad-hoc business events and initiatives requiring partnership with various third-party data submitters and other members of the agriculture and animal ecosystems that intersect with AGDATA’s clients. Ensure that we put in place the proper internal support, including project management, to support these events and initiatives.
- Ensure ongoing focus on measuring, socializing, and improving client health scores across the business.
- Partner with Finance and Sales teams to ensure the health of our client receivables and effectiveness of our invoicing processes.
- Administrative responsibilities include timesheet, purchase order, invoice, and expense approvals.
