Role Overview
Ironclad Defense Works (IDW) is seeking experienced professionals to provide dual-domain support at NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) in Norfolk, VA. This combined opportunity covers both Exercise Coordination & Alignment and Enterprise Architecture & Requirements Management, ensuring NATO force development initiatives are effectively designed, tested, and integrated into the wider capability portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Exercise Coordination Support
- Coordinate and align NATO exercises with force development and multi-domain operational requirements.
- Engage with stakeholders across NATO nations, commands, and centers of excellence to synchronize objectives.
- Provide planning, execution, and reporting support for large-scale exercises, workshops, and wargames.
- Capture and integrate lessons learned into NATO’s doctrine, force structure, and training frameworks.
- Facilitate collaboration across operational, technical, and policy teams to ensure exercises inform capability development.
Senior Enterprise Architect
- Analyze existing enterprise architectures to identify capability gaps, overlaps, and dependencies.
- Model and design new architectures using NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) to support portfolio and capability planning.
- Support requirements elicitation, traceability, and harmonization across capability lifecycles.
- Maintain architectural repositories and ensure version/configuration control.
- Provide technical guidance to requirements managers and mentor junior staff.
- Coordinate architecture products with NATO governance bodies and contribute to change/configuration management
Required Qualifications
- University degree in systems engineering, defense studies, international relations, or a related discipline.
- LCAT 23: Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and executing multinational exercises or wargames.
- LCAT 24: Demonstrated experience in enterprise architecture, requirements management, and capability modeling.
- Strong understanding of NATO or multinational defense structures, force development processes, and operational planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Citizenship of a NATO member nation; valid NATO-nation passport.
- Active NATO or National SECRET (or higher) clearance.
Desired Skills
- Experience with NATO Architecture Framework (NAF), DOTMLPFI, and capability lifecycle management.
- Proven ability to integrate lessons learned into doctrine and training.
- Familiarity with multinational defense exercises, experimentation, and wargaming.
- Project management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP) are an asset.
