Novaspect is seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator to support and maintain the infrastructure that powers our engineering network. This role is responsible for managing servers, ensuring network reliability, maintaining security tools, and supporting custom IT solutions tailored to engineering workflows. The ideal candidate will be technically versatile, collaborative, and capable of executing high-priority tasks across multiple domains.
System Administrator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Server & Virtualization Management
- Manage server provisioning, upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning across multiple locations
- Administer HCI Hyper-V virtual environments including performance optimization and resource planning
- Support migrations from VMmare to Hyper-V
- Support virtual machine migrations and conversions using automation and manual processes
Security and Identity Management
- Administer secure access tools such as password managers and hardware authentication devices
- Maintain user permissions and access controls across engineering systems
Network Infrastructure & Reliability
- Support network hardware transitions to ensure stable connectivity
- Coordinate with IT on infrastructure upgrades
- Monitor network performance and proactively address reliability risks
- Administer private Verizon cellular gateway connections
- Digi cellular gateway update and management
Cloud & Account Administration
- Manage user accounts and permissions across internal cloud platforms
- Support transitions to internal hosting environments
System Monitoring and Maintenance
- Establish hardware monitoring protocols for servers and environmental systems
- Ensure timely and consistent application of system updates and patches
- Troubleshoot update failures and maintain compliance with IT standards
Engineering IT Support
- Collaborate on custom infrastructure solutions to support engineering operations
- Provide technical support for specialized hardware and software configurations
- Participate in planning and execution of infrastructure projects aligned with engineering needs
Documentation and Process Development
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for system administration tasks
- Document system configurations, upgrade paths, and operational workflows
Requirements
System Administrator Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of experience in system administration, preferably in an engineering or industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Hyper-V and active directory
- Preferred knowledge of VMware, and Linux systems
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and monitoring tools
- Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash) for automation and system management
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
System Administrator Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with secure access tools (e.g., password managers, hardware tokens)
- Prior involvement in custom engineering or industrial IT solutions
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and firmware testing
- Understanding of cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies
System Administrator Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours on a computer
System Administrator Pay:
- Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000
- Potential Bonus: 5%
