Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and integrate deception objectives, narratives, and supporting CONOPs aligned with the commander's intent and broader OIE campaign.
  • Analyze adversary decision-making processes (e.g., OODA loop) and intelligence collection methods to identify and exploit vulnerabilities.
  • Create credible, sensor-verifiable deception narratives that are operationally supported.
  • Coordinate MILDEC efforts with other Information-Related Capabilities (IRCs) including OPSEC, MISO, Cyber, and EW.
  • Ensure synchronization of deception plans with real-world operations in coordination with OPSEC and Intelligence (J2).
  • Monitor adversary behavior through intelligence collection; assess effectiveness using Measures of Performance (MOP) and Measures of Effectiveness (MOE), and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Serve as a liaison with CCMD staff, subordinate units, and JIIM partners to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications


  • Direct experience in strategic and operational-level MILDEC planning.
  • Completion of one or more of the following courses:
  • Joint Military Deception Training Course (JMTC)
  • Service-Level MILDEC Course
  • MILDEC Theater Operations Course (MDTOC)
  • Expertise in the Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP).
  • Demonstrated experience drafting MILDEC plans, orders, and strategy assessments.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at the strategic/joint level with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Education in Strategic Communications, Information Operations, or National Security.
  • Experience with Special Access Programs (SAP) or Special Technical Operations (STO).
  • Operational experience in one or more of the following AORs: CENTCOM, INDOPACOM, AFRICOM.
  • Prior experience supporting CCMD or Joint Staff-level initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HUMINT or Counterintelligence integration.
