We are seeking an outstanding compliance leader to join our fast-growing team as Compliance Officer, Ghana. This role, reporting to the General Manager Africa and the Global Chief Compliance Officer, will be responsible for overseeing compliance with regulatory frameworks in Ghana. As Compliance Officer, Ghana, you will oversee and execute the company's compliance strategy in accordance with Ghanaian regulations about the Virtual Asset Service Platforms Regulation.If you have experience in a fast-paced environment and are seeking an opportunity to join an innovative compliance team in the virtual asset space, this is the ideal position for you.The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring the organization operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring the compliance program to prevent and detect violations.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Oversee the company’s compliance with Ghana VASP regulations, including understanding and interpreting relevant laws, rules and guidelines
- Prepare and present reports on compliance risk management activities for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Ensure compliance with all local AML/CFT and KYC laws.
- Design, implement and maintain Ghana AML/CFT policies and procedures.
- Provide AML/CFT compliance advice to management and the Board of Directors.
- Participate in the development of new products and services to assess AML/CFT implications.
- Work closely with the global compliance function in areas including onboarding, PEP and Sanctions screening, as well as transaction monitoring and SAR filing.
- Conducting regular risk assessments to identify potential AML/CFT risks, including evaluating customer profiles, transaction patterns and the types of services offered.
- Overseeing systems for monitoring transactions for suspicious activities.
- Ensuring staff members are trained and aware of their AML/CFT obligations, including regular updates on new regulations and AML/CFT trends.
- Maintaining accurate records of AML/CFT checks, training, and reporting for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Acting as the main point of contact with regulatory bodies, auditors, and law enforcement agencies regarding AML/CFT matters.
- Regularly reviewing and updating AML/CFT processes to ensure effectiveness and compliance with changing regulations and best practices in the cryptocurrency and virtual asset industry.
- Maintain active dialogue with the virtual asset industry’s compliance community to inform best practices.
- Conduct investigations as needed in collaboration with senior management.
- Manage other responsibilities assigned by the General Manager, Africa, and Global Chief Compliance Officer.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in AML/CFT and compliance.
- At least 2 years of working in the Fintech, virtual assets, or payments services industry.
- Experience building a Ghanaian compliance program.
- Proven experience in compliance, risk management, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations in Ghana.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Professional certification (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) preferred.
