Associate Accountant
Richmond, VA (100% Onsite)3-Month Contract
Overview:
Virginia Housing is seeking an Associate Accountant to support accounts payable, invoice processing, employee expense management, and credit card program administration. This role will also involve preparing journal entries, vendor maintenance, and general ledger reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing accounts payable and invoice processing
- Support employee expense management and credit card program administration
- Prepare and process journal entries related to expenses and vendor accounts
- Perform vendor maintenance and reconcile general ledger accounts
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
- Collaborate with team members to support financial reporting and audits
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or business administration
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred (not required)
- Hands-on experience in accounting, banking, or finance with a focus on accounts payable, employee expenses, and credit card program administration
- Strong understanding of internal controls, conflict resolution, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and standards (GAAP)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Dynamics finance modules, and enterprise resource systems
Preferred Experience:
- SAP Concur
- Credit card administration
- Accounts payable management
