GENERAL PURPOSE:


The Closing Specialist II is responsible for executing loan closing functions with precision and speed. They collaborate with processors, escrow agents, underwriters, wire disbursement, and mortgage brokers to ensure loans are documented, conditions cleared, and funded on time, while escalating complex matters to Manager, Closing as needed.

In this position, you will:


  • Prepares loan documents by entering necessary information in the LOS; verifies the accuracy of the loan data and ensures the timely delivery of the loan documents.
  • Reviews entity documents to determine signature authority. Performs manual edits to loan documents for unique and complex signature block.
  • Will be funding loans which includes review of executed loan documents to ensure accuracy prior to clearing funding conditions. 
  • May assist in preparing loan documents by entering necessary information in the LOS.
  • Maintains a high level of customer service with quick response times, follow through and attention to detail (both internally and externally). Communicates status and expectations to internal departments and external business partners.
  • Reviews hazard insurance, flood certifications, underwriting conditions, taxes, title report, sales contract, etc., to ensure all issues have been resolved prior to funding.
  • Reviews closing settlement statement to verify all fees are correctly disclosed and collected.
  • Responsible for the quality control and accuracy of the signed loan documents.
  • Accurately review loan conditions to ensure all documents are cleared and file is ready to fund. Escalates all issues that require attention and resolve to Manager, Closing.
  • Maintains high degree of confidentiality. Communicate proactively with escrow officers, underwriters, and internal partners to maintain loan momentum.
  • Supports development of peers and self. Promotes team collaboration and partnership.

Requirements

Successful candidates will possess:


  • High School or GED required; Associate’s Degree from an accredited college preferred; or a combination of education and experience. 
  • 2-3 years of mortgage experience as a Loan Closer or Doc Drawer required. 
  • Knowledge of mortgage loan products, loan documents and loan funding requirements; knowledge of RE documentation, underwriting policies and compliance and state closing processes. 
  • Working knowledge and use of MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), PDF Pro, imaging system and internet. 
  • Experience working with loan originating systems a plus.
