This role is responsible for the compliance program, risk management, service provider oversight, and internal controls for the SunAmerica Series Trust and Seasons Series Trust (the “Trusts”). The Trust CCO will be responsible for development, implementation, monitoring, and oversight of the compliance and regulatory aspects of the Trust and reporting to the Trusts’ independent Board.
This individual will bring a strong compliance mindset combined with an exceptional ability to develop effective working relationships across the organization to partner with other leaders to creatively solve identified issues. This individual must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and interfacing with and influencing senior management as well as other peers and colleagues.Primary Job ResponsibilitiesManaging all aspects of the Trusts’ compliance program, including:

  • Annual 38a-1 compliance program review of the Trusts’policies, procedures, and internal controls;

  • Quarterly and annual testing of compliance policies and procedures to ensure effective implementation, documentation of results, and development of action plans for remediation of findings

  • Maintenance of the Trusts’ compliance manual and associated policies and procedures;

  • Administration of the Trusts’ Code of Ethics program;

  • Oversight and review of third-partyservice providers, including sub-advisers to the Trusts;

  • Oversight of the Trusts’ Derivative and Liquidity Risk Managementprogram;

  • Identification and monitoring of affiliatesand conflicts of interest of the Trusts;

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Regularly interact with and report, both written and verbal, to the Trusts’Board 

  • Regulatory exam management

  • Monitor for, analyze and interpret proposed and current rules, regulations, requirements and interpretations that may impactthe Trusts and identify and address any gaps between existing processes and new regulatory requirements

  • Effectively identify, communicate and escalate compliance matters to management and legal staff

  • Prepare and submitmonthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the Trusts to senior management and the Trusts’ Board 

  • Manage compliance staff 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher; JD is preferred

  • 10+ years’ experience working as a chief compliance officer with registered investment companies, particularly open-end mutual fundsis required; deep expertise of the Investment Company Act of 1940 and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940

  • Executive presence and strong board-facing communication skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interface with and influence senior management as well as other peers and colleagues 

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with key regulators, including the Securities and Exchange Commission, and experience managing regulatory exams

  • Balance functional and business knowledge - Strong ability to develop effective working relationships, make articulate recommendations regarding potential solutions to issues, and be a strategic partner with the business

  • Ability to runoversight across multiple service providers, including in a multi-managed fund complex

  • Established ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize time effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment 

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and consistent attention to detail 

  • Prior experience managing a team is required
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%-25%, as needed
