Full-timeDescriptionThe Cato Institute seeks an entrepreneurial website coordinator to support the growing suite of web properties for its educational programs, including Sphere Education Initiatives, Cato Courses, and Cato University. Successful candidates will bring a passion for classical liberal thought, proven experience supporting the development, updating, and execution of dynamic web properties, and comfort with light graphic design work. This is a hybrid position in Washington, DC. The projected salary range for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 per year. Compensation is based on the successful candidate's educational background, experience, and skills

Responsibilities 


  • Managing website maintenance for Cato’s educational teams, including checking links, inserting and writing metadata, uploading copy and content, and ensuring quality control by helping review new content before publishing for design or copy errors.
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively across teams to complete web tasks and projects.
  • Editing images for the website.
  • Editing and creating graphics for content, including preparing documents for InDesign formatting, performing layout in InDesign as needed, and creating graphic designs to include traditional and AI image and video creation consistent with brand aesthetic.
  • Monitoring and reporting on website analytics.
  • Adhering to and supporting the brand.
  • Project coordination on an as-needed basis to support the full lifecycle of content development from conception to publication.

Requirements

Education and Experience


  • 2+ years of professional experience with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to libertarianism or classical liberalism consistent with the vision of the Cato Institute.
  • Entry to junior-level experience editing, maintaining, and updating content in content management systems. 
  • Familiarity with reporting web analytics. 
  • Experience with Squarespace, Drupal, and Sanity is desired but not required.
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS preferred.
  • Experience with basic graphic design editing software, including Adobe Creative Cloud, preferred.

  • Able to adapt to changing work environments, manage competing demands, and adjust methods to suit the situation while handling frequent changes and unexpected events.

  • Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Works well independently but is comfortable collaborating with team members on projects as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail for user experience
