Estimator – Civil Construction (DOT / Bridge / Highway)
Plantsville, CT (open to relo candidates)We are seeking a highly skilledEstimatorwith expertise inDOT projects,including bridge rehabilitation, new bridge construction, highway infrastructure, and bridge demo projects, to join a growing civil construction team. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Connecticut, with occasional travel for job site visits (1–2 times per month).What You’ll Do
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications for civil infrastructure projects
- Perform detailed take-offs and quantity measurements for materials, labor, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Build comprehensive cost estimates and assist in finalizing bid proposals
- Collaborate with engineering staff, project managers, and senior estimators on large-scale projects
- Work on high-value projects averaging $6M, often lasting several years, typically one major project at a time
What We’re Looking ForMust Have:
- 5–10 years of experience in DOT estimating, specifically withbridges, structural steel, and concrete
- Proficiency inHCSS HeavyBid
- Strong expertise in take-offs, cost analysis, and risk modeling
- U.S. citizenship
Nice to Have:
- CTDOT project experience
- Familiarity with AutoCAD
- Background instructural steel fabricationor CNC estimating
- Security clearance (not required, but a plus)
Tools & Software
- HCSS HeavyBid(essential)
- AutoCAD (preferred)
