OBJECTIVE:
The Project Manager is responsible for the administrative and surgical technical requirements in support of animal housing and technical support services contracts. They are the liaison between the company and the client for daily requests involving the animals and technical support.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:• AALAS Certification; LAT level, LATg +/- Bachelor’s Degree• At least four years of scientific project experience in a laboratory animal setting and three years of surgical techniques• Demonstrate ability to manage and delegate responsibility to caretakers and technicians• Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with scientists and researchers• Understand and use proper safety procedures including training personnel• Management experience and/or attend management training seminars/coursesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Supervise Animal Technicians and Animal Caretakers• Schedule all work tasks to be performed daily, weekly, and monthly.• Update and maintain animal inventories, perform advance technical procedures as protocols dictate.• Train hands on with technicians in techniques pertinent to their positions.• Coordinate schedules with investigators about projects and experiments to be performed.• Write and review SOPs that are pertinent to company equipment, procedures, and policies.• Write and deliver reports to comply with contract requirements• Have full knowledge of all aspects of IACUC Protocols and SOPs for assigned projects• Work with PIs to schedule requested procedures and notify them of any scheduling concerns that may affect the optimal performance of the study.• Communicate with the client or PI to alert them of anything that would negatively impact the study• Supply the data to PIs in the fashion requested as soon as requested• With the Facility and Operations Manager and Facility Director, prepare for and host inspections and site visits, thus maintaining working knowledge of all regulations and facility operations• Inform veterinarian of sick or injured animals• Able to work unsupervised and take directions over the phone from a Veterinarian in emergencies• Be proficient in all technical surgical skills required to perform duties• Perform other duties as assigned
