Position Summary


The Financial Wellness Educator is a dynamic facilitator and engaging communicator with a deep passion for advancing financial literacy and empowerment. In this impactful role, the educator equips individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed financial decisions supporting lasting financial well-being. With a talent for translating complex financial concepts into clear, relatable guidance, the Financial Wellness Educator plays a critical role in improving the economic lives of our members and strengthening the communities we serve

Principle Duties and Responsibilities


  • Willingness and ability to exhibit Wellby Core Values every day.
  • Works purposefully and is driven to provide the best team member experience
  • Dynamic presenter and expert on financial literacy who can explain complex financial topics in both group and individual settings.
  • Conduct educational seminars and 1:1 review throughout the year on various topics designed to ensure the holistic financial success of plan participants.
  • Identify quality opportunities for individual businesses and refer them to branch bankers as appropriate.
  • Provide education on various financial planning topics, focusing on strategies that address financial wellness needs.
  • Act as a liaison between our organization and the community to understand specific needs and tailor wellness programs accordingly.
  • Partner with Marketing to create and conduct webinars and blog content for clients and prospects.
  • Support new sales and market development initiatives.
  • Exhibit understanding of key features and benefits of Wellby Financials products and services.
  • Work with sponsor, stakeholders, Experience Design, Communications, Digital Experience, and Technology Services Office to ensure campaigns are aligned across all channels.  
  • Be an effective team member by demonstrating good communication, collaboration, reliability, accountability, flexibility, and commitment.  
  • Monitor and reach established goals on outreach and business outcomes to measure success.
  • Manage a supply of Financial Wellness collateral, promotional materials, and tangibles for events.
  • Utilize CRM and department calendar to track engagements, contacts, and outreach efforts.
  • Actively identify and mitigate different types of risks, including operational and reputational.
  • Provide monthly reports and feedback to management regarding performance and results.
  • Represent and promote Wellby’s financial education and wellness offerings at community and corporate business development events as directed.
  • Ability to work outside of business hours when needed for events.
  • Continuously scan the financial and corporate wellness environment for emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)


  • Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions, general operating policies and procedures and credit union best practices.
  • Knowledge of credit union products, services, and regulatory requirements that impact event planning and member engagement.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite products or related software.
  • Skilled in operating computer equipment and general office machines such as personal computers, copiers, projection equipment, audio/video, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Video Communications, and adding machines.
  • Skilled in data organization and implementation into readable formats and spreadsheets.
  • Skilled in effective verbal and written communication to prepare and conduct presentations, training seminars, and workshops.
  • Skilled in interpersonal skills for exchanging accurate information across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and openly share ideas as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Ability to initiate, develop and maintain strong, effective relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively across organizational departments and functions to achieve strategic goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Complexity & Scope of Work


  • The team member performs a number of routine and generally related tasks without supervisory direction.
  • Tasks may occasionally have to be coordinated, integrated, and/or prioritized.
  • Courses of action are determined by established procedures and/or the Vice President of Business Development.
  • The team member’s work is reviewed periodically for accuracy, completion, and compliance with the policies and procedures.
  • The team member uses independent judgment in making decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment


  • The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here represent those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.  Reasonable accommodations may enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • To perform this job successfully, the team member is frequently required to remain in a stationary position 30% of the time.  Daily movements include sitting; standing, reaching, and grasping, operating computers and other office equipment, moving about the office; and attending possible onsite and offsite meetings.  The team member must be able to exchange information, in person, in writing, and via telephone.  Some degree of stress results from contact with management and other team members.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 35 pounds across the office and load them onto shelves for various needs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work involves the typical risks and discomforts associated with an office environment but is usually in an area that is adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated.
  • Must be able to travel 75% within the Greater Houston Metro and surrounding areas.

Minimum Qualifications


  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field required
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in teaching and/or consulting required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated qualifications.
  • Proven ability to build strategic partnerships and provide effective consulting
  • A valid Texas driver’s license is required (must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date) and reliable transportation for offsite events.
  • FICEP certification preferred
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Bondable
