Job Overview


Jabu is seeking a skilled Mobile Technician to join our team. This role is hands-on and field-based, focused on technical problem-solving, preventive maintenance, and supporting the smooth operation of our Jabu Safe systems.The Mobile Technician will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing preventive maintenance (WMP), and assisting with installations. The position might involve travel across Namibia to service, repair, and maintain customer units, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities


1. Field Support & Maintenance


  • Provide on-site technical support for troubleshooting and resolving issues with Jabu Safe systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (WMP) on deployed units to ensure continuous, efficient functioning.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of new systems and safes when required.

2. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution


  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field (hardware, electronics, connectivity, and software).
  • Minimize downtime by ensuring fast and effective solutions for clients.
  • Document all technical issues and resolutions in the company’s Ticketing System for proper tracking and follow-up.

3. Preventive Maintenance (WMP)


  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance visits to reduce risks of failure.
  • Identify weaknesses or recurring faults in systems and implement preventive measures.
  • Provide recommendations to improve reliability and efficiency of safes in the field.

4. Client Interaction & Support


  • Deliver direct, professional customer service during site visits.
  • Clearly explain technical issues and solutions to clients in non-technical language.
  • Build strong relationships with clients through reliable service and follow-up.

5. Documentation & Reporting


  • Keep accurate records of all field visits, maintenance activities, and system issues.
  • Submit reports on completed work, encountered challenges, and suggested improvements.
  • Provide regular updates to the operations and technical teams.

6. Inventory & Equipment Management


  • Manage tools, spare parts, and consumables assigned for fieldwork.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all technical equipment.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle(s) and equipment used for site visits.

7. Travel & Flexibility


  • Travel extensively across Namibia to client sites for maintenance and repairs.
  • Adapt to flexible working hours to meet client and business needs.

Candidate Profile


Education:


  • Diploma or equivalent in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (not mandatory, but an advantage).

Experience:


  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in technical support, electronics, or field service roles.
  • Experience with system maintenance, hardware troubleshooting, or similar is highly valued.

Skills:


  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability in the field.
  • Good knowledge of electronics, hardware, and system maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on-site.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction and team reporting.
  • Accurate record-keeping and structured reporting skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work outside normal office hours if required.
  • Basic networking and system configuration knowledge is an advantage.

Desired Qualifications:


  • Technical certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar) are a plus.
  • Prior customer-facing technical support experience.
  • Physical fitness to handle installations, safe maintenance, and work in varied environments.
