The Director of Sales provides strategic leadership and direct oversight of the national sales team, driving growth and delivering value-added solutions across the road service and truck repair industries. This role is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, mentoring team members, and fostering a high-performance culture. The Director will communicate effectively across all levels of internal and external organizations and possess a comprehensive understanding of road service operations, truck repair processes, and advanced sales methodologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team to achieve national revenue and profitability goals
- Set clear performance expectations, monitor KPIs, and provide strategic guidance to drive team success
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused culture across the sales organization
- Personally manage key accounts and high-value opportunities, from lead generation through contract negotiation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trucking and road service customers, acting as a trusted advisor
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities beyond existing agreements to expand market share
- Develop a deep understanding of customer operations to represent their needs internally and drive tailored solutions
- Facilitate and lead customer meetings, presentations, and strategic planning sessions
- Attend industry events to promote the company’s vision and strengthen customer relationships
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Legal, and Billing to resolve customer issues and deliver customized proposals
- Share customer insights and market intelligence to inform internal strategy and product development
- Oversee Salesforce usage across the team, ensuring accurate tracking of opportunities and account data
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, technology enhancements, and productivity improvements
- Provide strategic input to the broader commercial organization and contribute to long-term planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline
- 5–10 years of progressive experience in sales or road service, with a strong track record of leadership
- Demonstrated success as a senior sales leader, developing client-focused, differentiated, and achievable solutions
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets in a competitive environment
- Experience in transportation, trucking, or related industry is a must
- Results-driven with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Analytical thinker with a passion for solving problems, improving processes, and delivering outstanding customer service
- Able to make clear, data-informed business recommendations and adapt quickly to changing conditions
- Self-starter with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to challenges
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and CRM platforms such as Salesforce
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau is a plus
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly for customer meetings and industry events
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening
