Accounts Payable Specialist


Copper River Shared Services is a seeking an Accounts Payable (A/P)
Specialist responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions for multiple entities within the Copper River Family of Companies. This role involves maintaining strong communication with vendors, internal departments, and management to ensure smooth and efficient payment processes.This position reports to the A/P Manager and is located in Chantilly, VA. 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):


  • Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
  • Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation.
  • Obtain approvals and code vendor invoices into accounting system for payment.
  • Prepare and process payments through various methods (checks, ACH, wire transfers).
  • Identify and calculate use tax on applicable invoices.
  • Review monthly vendor statements to ensure payment of all invoices and research and utilize all credit memos.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of invoices, payments, and related transactions.
  • Obtain and store W-9’s, set up new vendors as required, and ensure all 1099s are processed at year-end.
  • Obtain 1099 consulting agreements and ensure consultants are paid in accordance with terms outlined in the agreement.  
  • Review and process employee expense reports; ensure compliance with company policies and reconcile expenses with receipts.
  • Manage and reconcile corporate credit card and travel card plans.

Essential Job Qualifications:


  • Required Knowledge/Experience:
  • 2+ years of A/P experience with a bachelor's degree in Accounting or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience working with the Deltek CostPoint Accounts Payable module required.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • ANC/Tribal experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience processing Accounts Payable in a multi-company environment strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working in Government Contracting required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).
