Operations & Maintenance Technician (Environmental Remediation)

MAS Environmental (a NOVA Engineering & Environmental company) is seeking a hands-on and dependable
Operations & Maintenance Technician to operate and maintain environmental remediation systems at petroleum-impacted sites throughout the state of Florida. This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to various project locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in environmental systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and field operations.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate and maintain (O&M) environmental remediation systems such as soil vapor extraction (SVE), air sparging, groundwater pump and treat, and multi-phase extraction systems.
  • Perform routine system inspections, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collect and record operational data, including flow rates, pressures, and system run times.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues in the field.
  • Conduct sampling of groundwater, soil vapor, and other media as required.
  • Maintain accurate logs and documentation of maintenance activities and system performance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Travel regularly to project sites across the region or country.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in environmental field services, construction, plumbing, or mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental remediation technologies and petroleum site cleanup.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and system diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work outdoors in varying conditions.

Preferred Skills:


  • Experience with telemetry systems and remote monitoring technologies.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Basic electrical and plumbing repair skills.
  • Knowledge of environmental sampling protocols and regulatory standards.
