We are seeking a Design Engineering Manager to lead and grow a high-performing engineering team, drive product development initiatives, and deliver innovative solutions that meet the mission-critical needs of our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for the design engineering team across mechanical, electrical, and systems disciplines.
- Direct and review product design efforts from concept through production, ensuring quality, compliance, and customer requirements are met.
- Develop and implement engineering processes, standards, and best practices that improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Understand and direct structural analysis activities, including the application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to validate designs and ensure structural integrity.
- Oversee the integration of electromechanical and robotic systems into product designs, ensuring seamless interaction between mechanical, electrical and control subsystems.
- Collaborate closely with program management, operations, and manufacturing teams to align engineering priorities with program schedules and budgets.
- Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving for complex engineering challenges.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and performance metrics to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of engineering outputs.
- Serve as a key technical point of contact for internal stakeholders, external partners, and customers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong engineering foundation: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or relevant engineering field; master’s degree (e.g., MEM, MBA) preferred for bridging technical and business aspects.
- Demonstrated leadership growth: Experience progressing from leading small project teams to managing larger, multi-disciplinary engineering groups; ideally 6–8 years in engineering with at least 3–5 years of increasing management responsibility, including oversight of 10+ engineers and expanding teams.
- Design process expertise: Hands-on background in product development, CAD tools, version control, design reviews, and familiarity with electrical/mechanical systems as relevant to your work.
- Project and process management: Skilled in scheduling, budgeting, KPI tracking, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- People and team leadership: Ability to mentor senior and junior engineers, foster innovation, provide constructive performance feedback, and coordinate cross functional efforts effectively.
- Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or U.S. Person).
