About the Role
We’re hiring a Backend Engineer to own the core systems that power our AI workflows. You’ll design schemas, define APIs, and build scalable backend architecture — with tight collaboration across the engineering and product teams.This is an in-person role in San Francisco. The founding team works side-by-side every day to make fast decisions and build production-ready software that ships weekly.
What You’ll Do
- Own backend systems: data models, APIs and systems design while keeping scale in mind
- Lead schema and system design for our AI-native workflows
- Build with TypeScript, Node.js, Postgres (our current stack)
- Optimize backend performance and set the foundation for scale
- Work closely with product engineers and AI engineers to define and implement backend contracts
- Help shape product with pragmatic engineering input — this isn’t a ticket factory
What We’re Looking For
- 3–4 years of backend engineering experience (personal projects and startups count)
- Strong experience with relational data modeling and API design
- Comfort with Typescript, Node.js, Postgres, and ORM tools.
- Familiarity with system architecture patterns for scalable apps
- High agency, good taste, and ability to navigate ambiguity
- Strong communicator, especially in fast-moving environments
