Based in the Washington, D.C. Metro area, 
Pivot Path Solutions, LLC is a government contracting and business solutioning firm that offers enterprise IT solutions, strategic planning, organizational development, and medical research and development services to help customers adapt and thrive in changing market conditions. Pivot Path Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Database Architect to lead the design, strategy, and governance of enterprise database environments. The Database Architect will be responsible for creating robust data integration strategies, establishing standards for data quality and governance, and providing technical leadership across multiple programs.

This role requires expertise in database architecture, compliance frameworks, and collaboration with both technical and business stakeholders to ensure secure, scalable, and future-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities


Architecture and Strategy


  • Design and implement enterprise-level database architectures and evaluate emerging technology solutions.
  • Develop and execute data integration strategies while establishing and enforcing data quality standards.
  • Facilitate database-related technical discussions, reviews, and decision-making sessions.
  • Plan and oversee database consolidation, optimization, and migration initiatives.
  • Create and operationalize data governance strategies, including metadata management, data lineage, stewardship, and quality frameworks.

Security and Compliance Leadership


  • Design and implement database security frameworks and solutions that meet FISMA and other federal compliance requirements.
  • Develop and enforce data privacy and protection strategies.
  • Support compliance efforts, audit readiness, and remediation planning.

Technical Expertise


  • Provide technical guidance on database design, integration, and optimization solutions.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Present technical strategies and recommendations to senior leadership and decision-makers.
  • Establish, document, and maintain database standards, governance processes, and best practices across the enterprise.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Database Architect, Data Architect, or Senior Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Experience with data governance, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
  • In-depth understanding of federal compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST, FedRAMP).
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Oracle Certified Master, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading enterprise database consolidation or migration initiatives (e.g., cloud migrations, hybrid solutions).
  • Familiarity with enterprise data integration platforms, ETL tools, and data governance technologies.
  • Prior federal government or defense contracting experience.
