Essential Functions The Power BI Technical Lead is a senior role responsible for leading the design and implementation of advanced Power BI solutions. With at least 8 years of relevant experience, the successful candidate will have significant expertise in building and optimizing dataflows, designing semantic data layers, and managing connections to other systems such as CRM, ArcGIS, and Qualtrics.
This role is pivotal in preparing data for comprehensive analysis, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Design Semantic Data Layer:
- Architect and implement semantic data layers to enhance the usability and performance of Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Ensure that the data layer meets business requirements and fosters efficient data retrieval and analysis.
- Build and Optimize Dataflows:
- Develop and optimize dataflows for robust and scalable data pipelines.
- Continuously monitor and refine dataflows to improve performance and reliability.
- Manage Connections to External Systems:
- Establish and manage connections to various external systems including CRM, ArcGIS, and Qualtrics.
- Ensure seamless and secure data integration across multiple platforms.
- Prepare Data for Analysis:
- Design and implement data preparation processes to ensure data is suitable for in-depth analysis and reporting.
- Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
- Performance Tuning:
- Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization of Power BI solutions to enhance overall system performance.
- Identify potential performance issues and implement proactive solutions to mitigate them.
- Technical Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for dataflows, connections, and data preparation processes.
- Compliance and Security:
- Ensure that all Power BI solutions and data processes comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive data and maintain system integrity.
Education/Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Power BI and data management, with a proven track record of technical leadership.
- Expertise in Power BI, including the design of semantic data layers, dataflows, and DAX.
- Proficiency in managing connections to external systems such as CRM, ArcGIS, and Qualtrics.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and data modeling techniques.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of business intelligence solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead technical discussions.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust or similar security investigation.
Desired Knowledge/Skills
- Experience in the government contracting industry.
- Certifications in Power BI or related business intelligence tools and technologies.
