Our healthcare system is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. Every year, over 50 million Americans suffer adverse financial consequences as a result of seeking care, from lower credit scores to garnished wages. The challenge is only getting worse, as high deductible health plans are the fastest growing plan design in the U.S.
Cedar’s mission is to leverage data science, smart product design and personalization to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Today, healthcare providers still engage with its consumers in a “one-size-fits-all” approach; and Cedar is excited to leverage consumer best practices to deliver a superior experience.
The Role
Cedar is seeking a Senior Integration Support Engineer to play a critical role on our Integration Support Engineering (ISE) team—a highly technical group responsible for solving Cedar’s most complex, client-impacting issues and delivering engineering solutions where they matter most. This is a high-impact individual contributor role that sits at the intersection of client escalations and break/fix software engineering. The ideal candidate combines exceptional debugging instincts, strong software development skills, and the ability to lead investigations and technical delivery across Cedar’s most intricate product and integration surfaces. You will serve as a player/coach within the ISE team, helping us get to the bottom of critical issues, shipping high-leverage code fixes, and raising the bar for how we approach root cause analysis and resolution. The ISE team plays two critical functions at Cedar:
Escalations: ISE serves as the backstop for the most complex and high-impact issues escalated by client-facing teams. We investigate deeply, triage technical root cause, and partner cross-functionally to drive resolution.Support Engineering: ISE collaborates directly with development teams to deliver code-level fixes and enhancements on Cedar’s highest-complexity surfaces. We don’t just identify problems—we solve them.As a Senior ISE, you’ll be a technical leader across both functions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the investigation and resolution of high-priority, technically complex issues escalated from client-facing teams
- Partner with Engineering to deliver software fixes, enhancements, and performance improvements on integration and platform surfaces
- Champion scalable, framework-based integration patterns—ensuring we avoid one-off custom solutions in favor of maintainable, reusable architecture
- Help operationalize and support Cedar’s integration frameworks, enabling efficient onboarding, consistent data handling, and long-term extensibility across EHRs (e.g., Epic) and other systems
- Drive post-mortem processes and documentation of systemic issues and their fixes
- Contribute to technical strategy and tooling improvements that enable faster, more reliable issue resolution
- Deeply understand Cedar’s integration frameworks, architecture, and EHR connectivity (e.g., Epic), and help scale support for emerging patterns
- Serve as a calm, reliable presence during high-stakes incidents—leading root cause analysis and driving toward resolution
What we’re looking for:
- Deep technical proficiency across modern SaaS systems: You can navigate logs, APIs, and data models with confidence
- Background in technical support engineering, implementation engineering, or DevOps/SRE roles where you’ve worked close to both clients and code
- Proven experience working in integration-heavy environments (e.g., healthcare tech, EHR systems like Epic/Cerner, B2B APIs, data pipelines)
- A strong “digger gene”—you have to know what’s really going on beneath the surface, and you’re not satisfied until you’ve uncovered root cause and understood the broader impact
- Passion for root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and leaving systems better than you found them
- Clear communicator who can translate technical findings into plain language for non-technical partners
- Self-starter with high ownership and a calm presence during high-stakes situations
Bonus points for:
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare data standards
- Understanding of Cedar’s platform, or past experience supporting revenue cycle or patient engagement products
