JOB SUMMARY:
To promote the mission of PATH to help individuals achieve a more independent and fulfilling life by being an effective team member. Use evidence based clinical strategies appropriate to the needs of individuals with dual disorders (psychiatric/intellectual disability) such as modified CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT and/or other behavioral interventions. With the Director, provide clinical guidance and leadership to the BHID specialized team and residential direct support staff. The BHID Specialized Team provides direct care including support, structure, assistance, skill training and therapeutic interventions, for service participants, in collaboration with BHID residential staff.
Services are provided in the home and community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in the human services field required.
- Experience working with individuals with psychiatric disorders and/or Intellectual disabilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to perform crisis management interventions, CPR/First Aid, and assist individuals with mobility issues as needed.
SOME SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDED AS A BHID DUAL DIAGNOSIS THERAPIST:
1. Provide individual therapy at least weekly for service participants in BH/ID specialized residential2. Ensure that delivery of clinical treatment is congruent with approved treatment models3. Ensure service participants and families receive education regarding mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance use or other issues that arise.4. With the service participant, their family, residential staff, BHID treatment team and Supports Coordinator, develop discharge plans and arrange resources defined in the discharge plan
