Title: Cabling Technician
Location:
Bucks County, PA and NJ
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cabling Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, terminating, and testing structured cabling systems for voice, data, and low-voltage networks. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew in commercial, industrial, and occasionally residential environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, route, and secure Category 5e, 6, and fiber optic cables according to industry standards (TIA/EIA).
- Terminate cables with RJ45 connectors, jacks, patch panels, and other endpoints.
- Install cable pathways, supports, racks, patch panels, and conduits as required.
- Perform cable testing, labeling, and documentation using approved test equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair cabling and connectivity issues.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate with project managers, clients, and team members to ensure installations meet specifications and deadlines.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and comply with OSHA and company policies.
Requirements
Required:
- 1-2 years of experience in data communications wiring, structured cabling, or low-voltage installation.
- Proficiency in terminating and testing Cat5e, Cat6, and/or fiber optic cables.
- Familiarity with cable management, labeling, and documentation practices.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred:
- BICSI Installer or equivalent certification.
- Experience with coaxial cable, AV cabling, or security/access control wiring.
- Knowledge of PoE and network device installation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform tasks that require bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
