This newly opened Actuarial position will hold responsibility for reporting on reserves, Tax reserves, C3P2 RBC capital, and Cash Flow Testing for the Variable Annuity business.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely and accurate reporting and presentation of the statutory financials.
- Support Cash Flow Testing (CFT), including quarterly analysis and year end CFT memo work.
- Responsible for explaining and documenting review of model and assumption changes on statutory and related internal risk metrics.
- Review work completed by external actuarial outsourcing partner and internal team members which includes working with Finance and Risk teams such as Assumptions and Controllership to gather various inputs, planning / assigning work to external outsourcing partner, review of work, preparation of analytics and presentation materials, investigation of atypical results, and enhancing analytics and attributions over time.
- Execution of controls under the NAIC Model Audit Rule. Liaising with internal and external auditors as part of financial audits.
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects by assisting with implementation of company related initiatives, such as model validation or methodology changes.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance or related business discipline
- Completion of 5-6 actuarial exams; near ASA / ASA; 3-4+ years finance, insurance industry, or actuarial experience
- Strong computer skills: Excel, databases, actuarial projection/valuation software, programming (e.g. R, VBA, SQL)
- Solid understanding of insurance products, regulations, or insurance company structure from prior experience in roles such as
- pricing, modeling, valuation, risk management, inforce management, experience studies, hedging
- Detail oriented and strong analytical problem-solving skills to make informed decisions
- Leverages strong oral and written communication skills to readily and effectively collaborate with peers, managers, shares
- information and asks questions
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Strong desire to learn and grow; willing to rotate to other actuarial roles
