The CFO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the firm, including strategic planning, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management. This role requires a strong understanding of law firm economics, real estate taxation, and financial leadership in a professional services environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the firm’s goals.
- Advise the Managing Partners on financial planning, forecasting, and capital structure.
- Lead long-term financial planning and scenario modeling.
Financial Operations
- Oversee accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and expense control initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including real estate tax law nuances.
- Oversee audits, internal controls, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a small finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Technology & Systems
- Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to improve efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT and operations to streamline financial workflows.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of real estate tax law or experience working with real estate-focused clients.
- Proficiency in legal billing systems (e.g., Timeslips, Clio, QuickBooks, or similar) and financial software.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive base salary with performance-based bonuses: Starting at $125k
- 120 hours of PTO after a 90-day probation period (unused hours are forfeited annually).
