This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced software consolidator on a significant growthtrajectory with an unmatched M&A environment. This position is a newly created role andprovides the unique opportunity to lead Banyan’s Asia-Pacific tax function. As the Senior TaxManager, you will oversee the corporate income and indirect tax compliance for Banyan’sAustralian, New Zealand and Asian subsidiaries. Reporting to the Global Tax Director in NorthAmerica and working closely with Finance and other tax team members, the ideal candidate willhave a strong background in Australia and New Zealand that includes M&A tax, corporate income tax and exposure tocorporate income taxes for countries in Southeast Asia.
The candidate must be able to workindependently and collaborate with other departments, including M&A, finance, and legal. Thisrole requires a tax professional looking to challenge themselves in a fast-paced, highly acquisitiveenvironment and advance their career in industry.Responsibilities:- Prepare, review and sign corporate income tax returns and supporting workpapers forBanyan’s Australian subsidiaries.- Manage and collaborate with external tax advisors to complete income tax returns forBanyan’s subsidiaries in New Zealand and in other Asia-Pacific countries.- Calculate current and deferred income taxes for Banyan’s Australian, New Zealand andother Asia-Pacific subsidiaries under local GAAP and US GAAP. - Manage indirect taxes for Banyan’s Australian, New Zealand and other Asia-Pacificsubsidiaries. Prepare, review, remit, and file Australian GST and Business Activitystatements, and New Zealand GST returns.- Manage tax audits with the Australian Tax Office, New Zealand Inland Revenue, and othertax authorities in Asia. - Work with the Global M&A Senior Tax Manager and perform pre-acquisition tax planningand due diligence on potential Australian and other Asia-Pacific acquisitions.- Review tax related items in opening balance sheet and purchase price accountingcalculations for Australian and other Asia-Pacific acquisitions.- Work with the Global Tax and Treasury teams to repatriate cash using tax efficient methods.Ensure withholding tax requirements are met. - Prepare and review transfer pricing calculations for Banyan’s Australian, New Zealand andother Asia-Pacific subsidiaries. Ensure transfer pricing reports and contemporaneousdocumentation are timely completed with the assistance of external advisors. Managetransfer pricing payments to ensure they are timely settled and properly recorded.- Complete ad hoc tax projects, including tax research, analysis, and written memos.
Qualifications for success - The ideal candidate for the role will possess the following characteristics:
- Chartered Accountant CA/CPA designation or equivalent experience.- Proven Australian corporate income tax accounting and returns experience. Experiencemust include preparing, reviewing, and signing Australian corporate income tax returns andcalculating current and deferred income taxes for a multi-national company.- Experience managing corporate income and indirect taxes for Asia-Pacific entities incountries such as New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.- Experience collaborating with Finance and Legal teams, as well as experience liaising withthe Australian and New Zealand tax authorities.- Mergers and acquisitions tax planning and due diligence experience required.- Cross-border tax experience, such as applying for and obtaining double tax treaty relief forAsia-Pacific countries.- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience writing taxmemorandums.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.- Highly motivated and energetic with interest in entrepreneurship, software, and finance.
Location + Travel
