Job Summary:
The Supply Logistics Manager plays a critical role in the planning, coordination, and execution of supply and logistical operations for large-scale endurance sports events. This position is responsible for overseeing the procurement, inventory, storage, transportation, and on-site distribution of all event-related supplies and equipment. Working closely with Race Directors, operations staff, and volunteer coordinators, the Supply Logistics Manager ensures that every course and station is properly stocked, on time, and within budget.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the lead for supply logistics during major race weeks, arriving on-site ahead of 140.6 events to coordinate with Race Directors and operations teams.
- Oversee the full life cycle of event supplies: ordering, receiving, tracking, storing, transporting, and distributing.
- Manage on-site warehousing operations including organization of pallets, labeling, sorting, and staging.
- Coordinate the loading and unloading of aid station trucks for bike and run courses; ensure timely delivery and pickup with course and volunteer teams.
- Supervise and train logistics assistants and temporary supply staff during event operations.
- Use UPS, FedEx, and other tracking systems to manage shipments and resolve shipping or receiving discrepancies.
- Monitor inventory levels and spending; ensure supplies and equipment remain within approved budgetary limits.
- Lead investigations into transit issues and implement solutions to prevent future disruptions.
- Ensure proper handling of all materials, including perishable items, in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts (classes 1, 4, 5, and 7 certification required).
- Lift and move supplies weighing up to 50 lbs safely and efficiently.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized supply yards and workspaces; leave all areas better than they were found.
- Adhere to all company protocols, including COVID-19 safety measures and sanitation procedures when applicable.
- Communicate professionally over radios; ensure clear, concise, and respectful radio communication.
- Uphold proper event attire, professional behavior, and positive team morale.
- Provide logistical support in “ALL CALL” emergency scenarios and assist with incident response if needed.
- Act as a liaison between logistics and event operations, answering inquiries from staff, volunteers, and partners.
- Assist the North America Director of Logistics with special projects and operational duties as assigned.
Requirements
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:?
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or event operations (preferably in sports or live events)
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with long hours during event weekends
- Proficient with inventory systems, shipping software (UPS/FedEx), and Microsoft Office/Google Suite
- Forklift certified (or ability to obtain certification); classes 1, 4, 5, and 7
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and operate warehouse equipment safely
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently (up to 75% during peak season)
Preferred:
- Experience working in endurance sports or large-scale public events
- CDL or experience driving box trucks, trailers, or utility vehicles
- Familiarity with volunteer operations and course layouts in triathlon or running events
WORK CONDITIONS:
- This role requires significant travel and extended hours on-site during event weeks, including weekends and early mornings.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting heavy equipment, and moving inventory frequently.
