Job Summary:


Bear Robotics is a global tech startup on a mission to elevate hospitality through robotics and automation. We’re looking for a Systems Engineering Intern to join our Infrastructure & DevOps team at our Redwood City, CA office. This is a hands-on opportunity to work with modern systems tools like Kubernetes, Terraform, and Bazel, while contributing to automation, scalability, and developer tooling.This full-time, in-person internship runs for 3 months with the potential for extension or full-time hire based on performance and team needs.

It’s a great fit for someone with strong CS fundamentals who’s eager to grow in a collaborative, real-world systems engineering environment.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
  • Support deployment and management of Kubernetes services and tooling
  • Extend internal build and test workflows powered by Bazel
  • Write and improve internal tools and automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Rust
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects that improve scalability, observability, and developer experience
  • Participate in documenting internal systems, tools, and best practices
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:


  • Strong computer science fundamentals (e.g., operating systems, networking, data structures)
  • Familiarity with Linux system internals (file systems, processes, networking)
  • Scripting experience in Bash, Python, or similar language
  • Interest in infrastructure, automation, and systems reliability
  • Self-motivated, curious, and capable of learning new technologies quickly
  • Clear, friendly communicator and strong collaborator
  • Must be available for onsite work at our Redwood City, CA office

Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:


  • Familiarity with infrastructure tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, or Docker
  • Exposure to or interest in Rust, Bazel, or CI/CD tooling
  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Previous internship or hands-on project experience
  • Contributions to open-source or personal infrastructure projects

Education/Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or currently pursuing such a degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s).

The pay for this position is $30 to $40 per hour in Redwood City, CA. Pay is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience.
